How we handle outreach

Our legitimate interest assessment · last reviewed 11 September 2026

If you received an email from us and want to know how we decided that was acceptable, this page is the answer. Under UK and EU data protection law we rely on legitimate interest rather than consent for business-to-business contact, and we are required to have thought it through. This is that reasoning, published rather than filed away.

The purpose

To offer engineering services to organisations showing a specific, publicly visible sign that those services are relevant — an unfilled engineering role, a public repository using a technology we specialise in, or a published funding round.

Why it is necessary

We are a small team without an advertising budget or an existing brand. Directly contacting a named person is the least intrusive way we can reach the specific organisations we can help, and it is proportionate to the small number of messages we send.

The balancing test

Our conclusion

The interest is legitimate, the processing is necessary to it, and the impact on the individual is low and reversible on request. We consider the balance met. If you disagree, say so and we will erase your record rather than argue the point.
